Excellence Never Rests Campaign
After a long-range plan was developed in 2005, Stratford Academy embarked on the Excellence Never Rests capital campaign to address the facility needs identified. The primary areas of need were: larger and updated science classrooms, improved campus roads/safety/traffic patterns, updated athletic facilities for golf, weight training, football, and tennis, and improved space for lower school students and programs.
The campaign was named the Excellence Never Rests capital campaign to emphasize that in order for Stratford Academy to remain a leader in independent education that these needs must be met. The Phase I campaign goal of $6.6 million was met in 2011. Campus improvements included the addition of the Science Center for grades 6-12, improved traffic and campus safety with the completion of the loop road, and new and renovated athletic facilities for football, tennis, and golf.
The Phase II goal of $4.5 million was set in 2012. This portion of the campaign focused on the construction of a new lower school for students in grades 1-5, repurposing of the former lower school to become a student activities center, renovations to areas previously occupied by lower school programs for middle and upper school students, and the addition of a design/technology program in the upstairs of the library.
Stratford Academy is grateful to the hundreds of donors who charitably contributed during the decade of fundraising that took place for both phases of the Excellence Never Rests campaign. The school’s facilities not only meet the needs of today’s faculty and students, but position the school for growth in the future.
