Dear parents of upper school students,
As I trust you are already aware, we will have two virtual learning days scheduled for Tuesday, November 3 and Wednesday, November 4. We are thankful to have this opportunity to test our readiness to move nimbly, if necessary, to distance-learning mode. The following bullets provide the instructions for those days.
* Students will remain home on both days.
* Tuesday is an 'A' day and Wednesday is a 'B' day. We will follow the regular schedule on both days.
* Students should login to the Google Meet for their homeroom by 8:25 on both days. Attendance will be taken at that time. Regular attendance rules apply. Students should be in uniform on both days.
* Every teacher has set up a class on Google Classroom for each class that they teach. Students have access to Google Classroom through their apps.stratford.org accounts. To join a Google Meet session, students should simply open the appropriate class in Google Classroom and click on the Meet link provided by the teacher. Students are expected to have their video on when they log in.
* Teachers will deliver a blend of synchronous (live via Google Meet) and asynchronous (self-directed) instruction on these two days.
* Instructions for Tuesday will be posted on the portal by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, and instructions for Wednesday will be posted on the portal by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Students should check the portal prior to 8:25 a.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday to determine whether they should login to the Google Meet for a given class or if asynchronous instruction will be provided that day. Students will not attend study hall, PE, or intern periods.
* Any homework assigned to students on Tuesday must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, and any homework assigned to students on Wednesday must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday.
* Additional instructions will be provided by the classroom teachers.
* After school activities will still go on as normal with an expectation of relaxed attendance requirements for those who can't arrange transportation in the middle of the afternoon.
* Any student who does not have access to a laptop, desktop, or similar device should let Mrs. Ferrari know by 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, 10/29. The school will loan a device to any students in need of one.
* Any students who experience difficulties on these distance-learning days, technical or otherwise, should immediately email their classroom teacher and/or contact Mrs. Ferrari or Mr. Kallay.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions about our distance-learning days.
