Stratford Academy Dear Parents and Seniors, When we first closed our campus and moved to distance learning, it was with the sincere hope and belief that we would be coming back to campus right after spring break. While we continue to be hopeful that we can return to school at some point, in the event we are unable to do so, we are planning opportunities for our seniors and their classmates to gather on campus over the summer to celebrate with some traditional year-end activities. However, we know that many of you are most concerned about the culminating event in the life of a high school senior: graduation. While this is a situation that evolves and changes almost daily, here are the plans we have set forth with the sincere hope of being able to accomplish an in-person formal graduation ceremony for the class of 2020. Operating under the assumption that social-distancing guidelines have been relaxed, the limit on gatherings over 10 people has been lifted, and there is no longer a shelter-in-place order for the state of Georgia, students and their immediate family (parents/guardians and siblings) would be invited to attend one of the following graduation ceremonies: Plan A - Friday, May 22 at 5:00pm on the campus of Stratford Academy ● This is the originally scheduled date. We will decide whether or not the ceremony will happen on this date by May 11. If we're unable to have graduation on this date, PLAN B will go into effect. Plan B - Friday, June 12 at 5:00pm on the campus of Stratford Academy ● We will decide whether or not the ceremony will happen on this date by June 1. If we're unable to have graduation on this date, PLAN C will go into effect Plan C - Friday, July 17 at 5:00pm on the campus of Stratford Academy ● We will decide whether or not the ceremony will happen on this date by July 6. If we're unable to have graduation on this date, a virtual graduation ceremony will be arranged with dates/details to be announced later. We sincerely hope we will be able to enact one of these plans and offer our senior class a memorable experience to end their educational journeys at Stratford Academy. However, we are aware that things change almost daily and we continue to be at the mercy of the guidelines set forth by the state government and health officials. More information regarding the event, including when graduation practice will be held, will be provided as we draw closer to the potential date, but we wanted to update our senior parents that we are doing everything we can to ensure a proper celebration for this outstanding group of young adults. As always, courage and confidence is appreciated as we navigate this unusual time. Go Eagles!
