Jaime Kaplan was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. She started playing tennis at the age of nine and went on to hold junior rankings as high as first in the state, second in the south, and 18 in the United States. At Stratford, she produced an undefeated record of 156-0 in singles and doubles along with 5 state titles. She also was an all-state basketball player, playing on 3 state championship basketball teams. After playing collegiate tennis at UGA then FSU, Jaime competed on the WTA Tour for six years, achieving world rankings as high as 91 in doubles and 252 in singles. She played in Wimbledon five times, the US Open four times, the French Open four times, and the Australian Open once.
A knee injury at Wimbledon forced Jaime to retire in 1989 and she settled in back home in Macon where she has been very involved in the community, raising over $6.5 million for various charities, mainly the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia, over the past 28 years. She serves or has served on over a dozen non-profit boards and in 2011 filled an unexpired term for six months on Macon’s City Council.
Jaime was diagnosed with a rare form of acute myeloid leukemia on April 23, 2010. She underwent a bone marrow transplant on August 27 of 2010.
Jaime is the former Alumni Director and Major Gifts Coordinator for Stratford. Currently, she is the Director of Philanthropy at United Way of Central Georgia, Manager of the Five Star Kevin Brown Russell Henley Celebrity Classic and Head Coach of the Stratford boys and girls varsity tennis teams. Jaime’s individuals and teams have won 45 region/area titles and 16 state titles since 2005.
If you ask Jaime her greatest accomplishment, she will tell you that it’s not being inducted into the Stratford Academy Athletic Hall of Fame, or the Macon Sports Hall of Fame, or even the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. She will tell you that it’s the many lives she has touched through her charity work and through her journey with cancer.

Assistant Coach
I came to Stratford in the fall of 1999 as a third grade teacher. It didn’t take me long to learn that IT’S GREAT TO BE A STRATFORD EAGLE!!! In the fall of 2000, I became the first Spirit Coordinator for the Stratford Booster Club and began Stratford’s Youth Cheerleading Program. With my role as Spirit Coordinator, I enjoyed getting to know faculty and students from all divisions. I enthusiastically began directing Stratford’s Intramural Soccer League (known as SISL) in 2002. During a SACS study I served as the chair of the Priorities of Student Learning Committee. In 2007 I began directing Stratford’s Camp Eagle. Camp Eagle has grown offering over 40 camps each summer to meet the needs of campers of all ages. In 2010 my role as Sports Information Director and Title II Coordinator began. As of 2019 I began serving as Assistant Athletic Director of Operations. The many hats I wear at Stratford are challenging and fulfilling.
Education
I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Clemson University, and my graduate work was completed at Mercer University with a master’s of education in early childhood education. Professional presentations have included Georgia Conference of the International Reading Association, Georgia Council for Teachers of English and Georgia Independent Schools Association.
Previous Work Experience
I began teaching second grade at Calhoun Elementary in Anderson, South Carolina. I then moved to Macon and began teaching in the Bibb County Schools. During my thirteen years in public education in Macon, I taught grades kindergarten through sixth grade, with most of my time being spent in fourth grade. I enjoyed being part of the faculty at Danforth Primary, Hunt Magnet School, Morgan Elementary, and Springdale Elementary. My work at Stratford began in 1999, and I have served in various roles including third grade teacher, Spirit Coordinator, SISLCoordinator, Youth Cheerleading Coordinator, Camp Eagle Director and Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations and Sports Information. Currently I enjoy being Assistant Athletic Director of Operations.
