Basketball - Girls Varsity

The Stratford Eaglettes began in 1968. In only their second year of competition, they were GHSA State Runner-ups.
In 1970, legendary Stratford Coach and Athletic Director, Grady Smith took over the program. In ten years as the head coach, the Eaglettes won four State Championships, one State Runner-up and three Region Championships.
Over a nine year period, Coach Casey Jones led the Eaglettes to two State Championships, one State Runner-up and three Region titles.
Stratford , Hall of Fame Coach, John Paul Gaddy led the Eaglettes for seven years. During that time, Stratford won two State Championships and four Region titles.
In 2003, current Head Coach, Ed Smith took over. In the past seventeen years, the Eaglettes have won two State Championships, 3 State Runners-up, eleven Final Four appearances and eight Region Championships .
In 2018-19, the Eaglettes surpassed the 1000 win mark in program history. Heading in to the 2020-21 season, the Eaglettes have an all time record of 1034 wins and only 395 losses. Over the past 52 years, the Eaglettes have had 75 All State players and over 260 All Region selections.

I am from Macon and graduated from Windsor Academy. I played college basketball and graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with a Bachelors in Business, Human Resources Management Degree. I coached at GSW for 1 year while getting my Bachelors in Science, Business Education Degree. After college, I began my high school coaching/teaching career as the Head Basketball/Assistant Softball/Track Coach at Sherwood Christian Academy in Albany, GA. After 5 years, I then moved back home to Macon and began working at Stratford as Assistant Basketball/Softball/Track Coach and teaching Middle School PE. I was at Stratford for 7 years before briefly leaving for Mary Persons High School for 2 years. In 2010, I added on a Physical Education Certificate. I came back to Stratford in 2012, coaching the same sports as before and teaching Lower and Middle School PE and High School Girl's PE.
