Alumni Awards

Stratford Academy Recognizes Its 2019 Distinguished Alumna Award Recipient
Dr. Zoe Jones - Stratford's 2019 Distinguished Alumna Award Recipient

In 1986, Stratford inaugurated the Alumni Award recognitions. Since that time, alumni have been recognized during the school's commencement exercises.

The Distinguished Alumnus/a Award for Outstanding Career Achievement goes to an individual who has made outstanding contributions through his/her vocation or who otherwise deserves to be recognized for outstanding achievement in some field or endeavor. Alumni in the fields of law, medicine, education, business, military, ministry and the arts have been recognized for their career achievements and excelling in their chosen fields and making a difference in the world around them.

Stratford Academy Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award is Dr. Zoe Jones. Zoe has distinguished herself in the field of medicine as a cardiologist. Following her graduation from Stratford in 1967, Zoe attended Smith College, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Chinese language. She continued her studies receiving an MA from Columbia University in 1975, and went on to Cornell University Medical College in New York, receiving the MD degree in 1979. Upon completion of her Internship and Residency in the Department of Medicine at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center (Einstein) in Bronx, New York, Zoe served a fellowship in cardiology at St. Luke's Hospital Center in New York. She returned to Macon in 1984 and was the first female cardiologist to practice in Middle Georgia and the first cardiologist in the region to have hands-on experience with an angioplasty balloon. One of the three founding partners, she currently serves as President of the Central Georgia Heart Center. In addition, she is a Clinical Instructor and Associate Professor for Mercer University Medical School, Co-Director of the Congestive Heart Clinic, and principal investigator with certain clinical trials in a collaboration between Central Georgia Heart Center and MCCG. She and her husband, Gabriel Pham, have three children who attended and graduated from Stratford.

Zoe was recognized at this year's commencement exercises which took place on Friday, May 24th at 7 p.m. at the Macon City Auditorium.
