Our Leadership

Meet Dr. Rachel Adams, Head of School

At Stratford Academy, we believe that education is not only about what students know, but about who they become.

We recognize that the world around our students is rapidly changing. Knowledge, and access to it, is constantly evolving, but there are a few things that remain: character and the ability to think deeply and critically. The world may shift and change, but confidence, resilience, and compassion remain. Our mission is to develop within our students their full potential as thoughtful, capable, compassionate leaders who are prepared not just for college, but for life.

To do this, we teach students how to think, not what to think. We show them where to look, not what to see. Each day, I am reminded of the extraordinary privilege we have to shape young minds and hearts and to inspire curiosity, cultivate integrity, and prepare our students to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

What sets Stratford apart is our unwavering commitment to the whole child. Intellectual growth goes hand in hand with emotional and social development. Our teachers know their students personally, not just how they learn, but what inspires them. They encourage questions, nurture confidence, and challenge students to see learning as a lifelong journey.

We understand that a child’s success is built through a caring community and strong partnership. Our parents, teachers, and students work together to ensure each learner feels supported, while also encouraging them to stand on their own two feet. We intentionally provide just enough independence for students to feel challenged, to develop grit, and to grow. It’s this blend of belonging and bravery that allows students to take risks, explore their passions, and discover who they are meant to be.

In a world that often measures success in narrow ways, we believe in preparing students who are well-rounded, adaptable, and grounded in purpose. Stratford graduates are lifelong inquirers who approach the world with curiosity and courage. As articulate, dynamic storytellers, they use their voices to inspire and connect. They leave our halls ready to make a difference in a world that needs thoughtful, compassionate leaders.

For more than six decades, Stratford has stood as a place where tradition and innovation meet. Whether in the classroom, on the stage, or on the playing field, our students learn that excellence is not just about achievement, but about effort, resilience, and character.

As you explore our website, I hope you catch a glimpse of the transformational experiences unfolding within our halls each day. More importantly, I hope you see a community that believes deeply in its mission to prepare students not only for college, but for life.

We would be honored to partner with you in your child’s educational journey.

Warmly,

Dr. Rachel Adams
