Athletes Minds Matter

Senior Campbell McIntyre took the initiative to create a new organization that reflects her passion for supporting others. As co-president of Stratford Minds Matter for the 2025–2026 school year, she founded Athletes Minds Matter, a group focused on promoting mental health and well-being among student-athletes.

This morning at assembly, Campbell introduced Athletes Minds Matter and shared her personal perspective on the challenges student-athletes face while trying to balance academics, sports, sleep, and social life.

“Acknowledging your struggles isn’t a sign of defeat—it’s the first step toward real strength,” she said. “We’re expected to be mentally tough all the time, to push through pain and pressure. But no one really talks about what that actually feels like or how much it can wear on us.”

Through Athletes Minds Matter, Campbell hopes to create a supportive community where student-athletes can be open about their challenges.

“If you’re struggling, say something. If you see someone who’s struggling, reach out. Help make yourself and those around you feel supported.”

A special thank you to April Bacon, advisor of Stratford Minds Matter, for helping Campbell organize such a meaningful assembly, and to Coach Iain Jones for courageously sharing his own experiences as a student-athlete.
