The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition Awards

The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is put on every year by the non-profit organization, the Alliance of Young Artists and Writers. The nation’s longest running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program recognizes student achievement in the visual and literary arts in 28 different categories including fashion design, photography, printmaking, architecture, memoir, short story, and novel writing just to name a few. Since its founding in 1923, the awards have fostered the creativity and talent of millions of students including artists and writers who have become leaders in their fields like Stephen King and Andy Warhol.

A Scholastic award signifies that a student is an accomplished artist or writer. Each work of art and writing is blindly judged by 100 affiliates of the Alliance. The works are judged on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision. Simply being nominated for an award means that a student has reached a high bar in terms of honoring their unique voice and demonstrating advanced skill.

From the works submitted this year, Stratford Academy earned six art awards and three literary awards.
