Stratford Students Honored by the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for 7th-12th grade teenagers in the US and Canada. The annual awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, which is a non-profit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their magnificent work to the world through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. All entries are considered for Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention.

Seven talented Eagles were honored by the Scholastic Writing Competition for Georgia this year! Three of these students earned Silver Keys: Bonnie Hui (11) for personal essay, Anna Katherine Katz (11) for flash fiction, and Molly Edward Seagraves (11) for poetry. We are also celebrating honorable mentions earned by Avery Geary (11) and Sophie Leigh (11) for flash fiction and Zoe McAfee (11) for poetry. Eighth-grader Angelina Wang earned a Georgia Regional Gold Key award. Gold Key-awarded entry is automatically considered for national award.

This year, we have five art student winners. Brayden Fritz (9) earned an Honorable Mention for his lumen photography work; Jaxen Garcia (12) earned an Honorable Mention for her photograph titled Stebin; and Ella Reaves (12) earned an Honorable Mention for her Metro Madness sculpture of an arcade game. Jaxen Garcia (12), Ella Reaves (12), and Suhani Viradia (12), all students in the AP Art & Design course, earned an Honorable Mention award for their portfolio submission, which consists of 6 works of art that explored an inquiry statement or question. Caroline Stejskal (9) earned a Gold Key for her alternative pinhole photograph. Gold and Silver Key award recipients, their families, and art teacher are invited to an awards ceremony in Atlanta at SCAD on March 23, 2024.
