Full STEAM Ahead

Stratford students are problem solvers. From his own student days, Shawn Shivdat ’18 looked for ways to use his own gifts, talents, and interests to help others. From engaging students through the game of chess to providing internet service to underserved communities during COVID to developing an app to help students with sleep issues, he learned how to look at the world with a unique perspective.

Full STEAM Ahead Elizabeth McGee

One of the experiences Elizabeth Jackson McGee '04 credits with her architectural career choice is Stratford's Senior Project program. She shadowed professionals locally and in New York City before earning her two undergraduate degrees and a master's degree. While Elizabeth's design background has made her a leader in her profession, she credits her Stratford teachers with helping her home the writing and communication skills she leans on every day.

Michael Chanin, CSE Energy

As CEO of a solar energy company bringing groundbreaking services to Georgia residents, Michael Chanin ’02 finds that cultivating curiosity and kindness in his team members leads to the collaboration and innovation the current workforce requires. He also knows firsthand what it is like to build on a Stratford education for a career path that is new and everchanging.

“Almost 9 years ago, we started Stratford’s STEM with a pack of construction paper and the idea that it was about making bridges with straws, and I quickly realized there is so much more to STEM,” shared Leskovics. “We realized students were learning a different way of thinking about education, and it became easy to grow the program because of the student engagement and the understanding that products and topics are endless when it comes to applying STEM to educational purposes.”
