Assistant Head of School for Advancement
Stratford Academy (GA), Middle Georgia's premier independent school, announces the search for an experienced, energetic, and effective leader to serve as the School's next Assistant Head of School for Advancement. Reporting to the Head of School, the Assistant Head of School for Advancement will fulfill the mission of the School by planning, guiding and creating strong development efforts through relationship strategy, digital fundraising, grant writing, alumni affairs coordination, and public relations.
The Assistant Head of School for Advancement will report to the Head of School and the ideal candidate will bring leadership and management experience in each of the above aspects of the role. The Assistant Head of School for Advancement is responsible for establishing and executing the strategic priorities of the Advancement team. This position will collaborate with the Head of School, the Board of Trustees, and the Trustee Advancement Committee to ensure that Advancement priorities align with the school’s mission and strategic plan. The Assistant Head of School for Advancement will work to define and execute future capital campaigns while continuing to build on successes in annual fund support, endowment growth, and planned giving efforts. The Assistant Head of School for Advancement plays a critical role in communicating and promoting Stratford Academy’s mission, history, and core values within and throughout the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and execute forward-thinking, goal-driven development plans and programs that optimally grow the annual fund and capital campaigns.
- Partner with parent and Booster organizations as well as the Alumni office.
- Work with the Head of School to maintain a campaign calendar in keeping with other school calendars.
- Manage the development budget, forecasting needs and meeting budget targets.
- Develop and maintain a highly collaborative relationship with the Head of School, Division Heads, and Administration, supporting them in all their fundraising responsibilities, and facilitating donor visits when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Stratford’s Advancement Team (Head of School, Development, Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications) to plan and produce communication materials that enhance the School’s visibility and reputation.
- Ensure annual fundraising goals are met.
- Serve as a representative of Administration, collaborating with colleagues in coordinating a vibrant school atmosphere.
- Facilitate opportunities for the development of relationships between the Head of School and donors.
- Create opportunities for the Head of School to ask for major gifts.
- Establish criteria and a plan for a capital campaign.
- Attend Stratford Academy’s events and activities to foster pride and excitement for community life and the school’s values
- Present frequently to trustees, parents, alumni, and other large and small groups of school constituents
- Strategic and creative thinker with a “can-do” style, able to convey Stratford’s mission and vision, while taking the practical decisions needed to make programs run well.
- Passionate about working with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency using database management software (Raiser’s Edge at Stratford) to coordinate campaign activities.
- Proficiency with MS Office and Google Applications.
- Practical experience working with and motivating volunteers and staff members.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask, strong organizational skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with 3-5 years of development experience in independent schools or higher education preferred.
- Experience managing successful fundraising campaigns.
- Appreciation for and commitment to independent school education and culture.
- A track record of success in a major gift or capital campaign environment is necessary, along with demonstrated ability to develop and implement 5-, 6-, and 7-figure gift strategies.
- Ability to develop and execute a high-level, multi-tiered fundraising strategy across multiple constituencies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work graciously with all the School’s constituents while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong data analysis and public speaking abilities.

Director of School Resource Officer
Stratford Academy, a K-12 co-educational independent school in Macon, GA, is seeking applicants for the full-time, 12-month position of Director of School Security/ Resource Officer to begin on September 22, 2025. The school is seeking an experienced, adept, and committed candidate for this role. The person is a hard-working professional with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion. Additionally, he/she will radiate positivity, value excellence, and model reliability and professionalism at all times. He/she should also be comfortable working under pressure and be able to work well with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion.
Responsibilities:
- Traffic Patrol - coordinate student, parent, and visitor vehicles into and out of the school campus. This involves assessing traffic flow and directing vehicles to enter/exit school locations with a minimum amount of wait time.
- Coordinates a comprehensive security/school safety program, policies and procedures by studying organization operations and schedules; establishing internal controls; conducting inspections as appropriate; reporting potential hazards to appropriate departments; creating and updating Crisis Management Guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures, safety and security manuals.
- Supervise a full-time and part-time officer.
- Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations by studying existing and new requirements and overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to requirements.
- Coordinates safety planning and practice to support academic processes of each school by creatively implementing best practices in safety, security and emergency preparedness with proper adaptation to the environment, creativity and innovation so the process of education can be enhanced rather than impeded by safety efforts.
- Conducts and coordinates safety, security and emergency preparedness training by
- developing, scheduling and/or facilitating training for staff, students and public safety
- officials relating to school safety, security and emergency preparedness.
- Secures facilities, equipment, students and personnel by working in conjunction with the
- appropriate departments in recommending safety and security equipment purchases and upgrades; maintaining records of fire and other emergency drills and conducting drills.
- Performs other related work as required.
This position requires a high degree of diplomacy, flexibility and adaptability.
