by Robert Stone, Class of 2017
The Varsity Girls Softball Team continued to have success in 2016 under coach Jeff Treadway. The team finished with a 24-7 record on the season. The girls went into the postseason ranked fourth overall in the power rankings and had a strong showing in the state tournament where they made it to the Elite Eight. The team was a good, talented, well-rounded group of players that were led by seniors Hannah Griffin and Alyssa Orona. Although these seniors will be missed for their great hitting and fielding, there is a strong group of returning players including junior pitcher Tori Dover and junior Evans McCook. In the upcoming 2017 season, the team is looking forward to contributions from some rising freshmen who have been great players in middle school.
